Who we are

Westside Youth Project is an outreach, locally based youth service, which is an affiliate of Youth Work Ireland, Galway. The Westside Youth Project works with young people, who are 10 to 21 years old, from all the estates that comprise the Westside area of Galway City. We support young people in their social, personal and educational development through a variety of activities and programmes and through positive engagement with the community.

What we do

Our aims are to support young people and meet their needs. We work to promote the educational, personal and social development of each young person we engage with. We work with various partners within the community, and have established links with other agencies in the prevention of early school leaving. These links include student volunteers from NUIG, GMIT Culinary Department, Westside Resource Centre, Westside Library, Rahoon Family Centre, local primary and secondary schools, and the Community Garda Liason team.  We provide a range of enjoyable activities and programmes for young people such as outdoor activities, homework supports, summer camps, arts and crafts, cookery classes, youth drop in space, driver theory test support, Westside Arts Festival, involvement in local activities, and we are always open to new ideas.
