Who we are

Loughrea Family & Community Resource Centre is one of a network of 109 Family Resource Centres across the Republic of Ireland but is an autonomous organisation in that it is a registered company limited by guarantee with charitable status. The organisation receives core funding from Tusla – the Child and family Agency. Core funding covers staff salaries and basic running costs. All other funding is sourced externally.

The Mission Statement of Loughrea Family Resource Centre is:

“to provide supports and services that respond to the needs of the community within a community development framework”

The work of Loughrea Family and Community Resource Centre is informed by a community development approach that proactively encourages and supports participation for all.
Specifically, Loughrea Family and Community Resource Centre will:
• treat people with respect
• maintain a focus on equality and advocacy
• be an open, friendly and welcoming space for all members of the community
• be respectful, non-judgemental and inclusive of all people
• ensure that all our work is conducted in a safe, professional and confidential manner
• be an accessible, independent, informative and creative organisation
• adopt a flexible and positive approach to our work
• value partnership

Loughrea FCRC is managed by a voluntary Management Committee whose members are also the company directors. There are currently 10 members on the Management Committee – these members are drawn from the local community and do not represent any agency or organisational interests. Members do represent the broader interests of the community in that many of the members are living and experiencing the various community development and family support issues being addressed through the Family Resource Centre.

Loughrea Family & Community Resource Centre currently employs three staff members – 1 full-time co-ordinator and 2 part-time admimistrators.
